PNEUMA
The photographs in the Pneuma series originates from an extended period of forced introspection. As fragments of a world we recognize, yet one that appears simultaneously foreign and enigmatic. the challenge the gaze. Are these familiar plants, strange creatures from the deep, or perhaps an entirely different form of life? The motifs float in a black, infinite space, isolated from their surroundings, without clear indications of scale or context.
This isolation is achieved through a meticulous photographic process, where many exposures of the same subject, with shifted focus, are digitally composited. The result is a hyperrealistic richness of detail combined with a dreamlike unreality.
The lack of reference points invites us to look closer, to linger on what slowly emerges from the darkness. The works balance between an almost scientific study of nature's forms and a journey into an an animate world united in a shared breath.
